Hello! Welcome to My Holiday Page.

This is an account of Karens Holiday in Spain from April 18th,2000 to April 28th 2000. Karens quotes about the various parts of the holiday are in quotation marks. The rest are written by her mum.Nearly all the photos, except those of Karen herself were taken by Karen

.
"Nice holiday, nice mummy, nice andrew, nice daddy, daddy too much coffee on holiday.too much toilet. Nice food , nice mushrooms, nice drums in the fete, nice gardens"

We arrived in Seville late on the 18th. On Wednesday 19th we went to breakfast in the hotel where Karen was delighted by the breakfast buffet, especially the scrambled eggs and mushrooms.

We then walked from the hotel to the river, passing a shop with a cardboard cutout of Karens favourite Mr Bean.

We walked along the river and then took a trip on a river boat

"Nice boat trip"

Karen took a photo of her Dad on the boat.

After lunch we visited the Alcazar, a Moorish palace which had beautiful gardens. It was so exciting to see lemons and oranges growing on trees!

There were lovely fountains, tiles, roses, jasmine, a maze, pools, goldfish, ducklings and the palace itself.

The next day we went up a big tower called the Giralda. Although built more than eight hundred years ago and about 300 feet high , it is actually wheelchair accesible except for the last 20 steps as it has ramps all the way up. It was noon when we arrived and we hadnt realised it was a bell tower so we heard the bells chime 12 0' clock

"me like tower got silly loud bells in my ears."

Karen and Andrew were asked if they wanted to have lunch and then go in a horse and carriage or go in a horse and carriage and then have lunch

"Me said lunch then horse riding and andrew said horse riding first then lunch.horse riding andrew happy after. me say inthe park inthe park in the park. After lunch, spaghetti bolognese,.Walking in park and photo daddy.me got that picture somewhere."

The park was very nice and Karen took these pictures

There was a fountain made out of ceramic frogs, a miniature waterfall, and more orange trees, palm trees, lemon trees , roses, ducks and jasmine

The next day was Good Friday and there were a lot of processions where great statues were carried on platforms the shoulders of 30 men. The statues are surrounded by candles and flowers.

There was usually a band as well and men dressed in religious costume with pointed hoods. For one of the processions there were lots of men dressed as Roman soldiers. Karen managed to pose with one after the procession

On Saturday we took a train trip to Cordoba where there is a huge 11th century mosque converted to a Cathedral.

"Cordoba me got silly feet tired again .me say daddy wheelchair dont see it wheelchair"

Apparently there were wheelchairs available in the cathedral and Karen would like to have been taken round in one to save her aching feet. The next day was Easter Sunday and we saw another procession. Then visited a beautiful garden

"nice gardens and got photos there, of the stairs"

That evening we took the train to Granada,The next day we visited the Alhambra, another Moorish palace surrounded by lovely gardens. The first garden had lots of high hedges and we took it in turns to play Hide and Seek.

nice hide and seek.me hide with katie, mummy hide with carolyn goffe, daddy hide with denis beaumont, andrew hide with mark.nice castle.too many stairs my feet, chocolate stall.me take a photo of the chocolate stall for katie, Katie like chocolate a lot,"

The next morning we visited the Science Park which Karen loved as it reminded her of the Science Museum in London and she took this picture of her dad.

That afternoon we took a train to the seaside. In the evening there was a group staying at the hotel who were singing songs til late by the pool and then made quite a bit of noise going back to their rooms. The first morning we ended up by clever marketing attending a time share presentation, very boring for Karen and Andrew though we did win a booby prize of three bottles of sparkling wine. We didnt end up coughing up £7500, despite the salesmens efforts though.

This meant that the planned game of minigolfwas seriously delayed but took place.Later that evening we went to a funfair.(See picture at top of page) Karen didn't like the fact that in order to ascertain people had paid for an unlimited ride ticket, our hands were stamped with a sticky tranfer.Karen enjoyed several rides but the water ride is still being built and Karen was disappointed . However she was delighted that this Spanish park had a genuine English pub selling Shepherds Pie and Apple crumble and custard!

"in hotel silly people on stairs, singing. boring meeting.golf mini golf late. late lunch funfair me hate sticker on my hand nice mirrors nice shepherds pie and bad news no water ride."

The next day we did shopping, a little road train ride and ten pin bowling as the weather was cool and showery.

The last day was spent on the beach in glorious warm sunshine

.It was so nice that we didn't want to eat in a restaurant.Instead we got a takeaway from the nearest beach restaurant.Karen had sausage, chips and beans

"me like sausages, me like baked beans. Me not like chips.Got stuck in my teeth.Me buried daddy's feet in the sand".
