This page is about our trip to Sweden July 14th-26th 2002..
and the things Karen did.....

The Swedish Flag

We saw a lot of blue and yellow in Sweden .

Karen and the Prince .
They share the same birthday! .
Liseberg Park
We began our trip to Sweden in Goteborg. On our first day we bought a two day pass to the wonderful amusement park. This is Karen on the first ride, a gentle boat ride through a flower garden full of rabbits!
Goteborg
The city where we began our trip.
Karen's Second Ride .
This ride was called the Jukebox. The centre was a neon fifties style jukebox and the cars were fifties type American cars. Incidentally, later when in the north of Sweden we saw several vintage chevrolets. .
Karen on the ferris wheel.
We went on this again the next evening and watched a lovely sun set about 10 pm and all the rides lit up below us.

Karen and the giants.
On the first day we left the park about 4 pm for a break and went for a ride on a ferry. As we left these two came by but the sun was pointing directly at the camera
Karen's favourite ride .
whenever we go to a theme park or amsuement park, this round boat ride on the rapids is one of Karens favourites. I like it too though I find the water rides that involve a sudden descent very scary.
The Ferry.
This was a trip we did on a ferry which is part of the public transport system. We wanted a break from the rides .This is in Goteborg harbour
Giant Goodies.
As well as the rides and the stalls like shooting ranges, Liseberg park had a game that was new to us. You placed bets on numbers and each time someone won a bar of chocolate or other food snack. Very occasionally someone won the big prize, such as a bar of a local brand of chocolate that was about 30 inches by 20 inches in size, or in this case a packet of crisps ( chips) which was the size but not weight of a sack of coal!
Funny mirrors
Gordon , Cathy and Karen admiring an image of themselves that makes them look shorter and thinner.
Dragon Ships
Karen and her dad in a Viking ship.
Swedish Peasants .
After three days in Goteborg we took a night train to Ostersund which is as far North as Alaska, Hudson's Bay and Latvia .There was a wonderful open air museum there and here we are posing as farm folk
Ostersund Lake .
Sweden has 10,000 lakes as well as having a long sea coast and some lovely rivers. This shows Gordon , Andrew and Karen by the lake at Ostersund.
Mini Golf .
Playing minigolf in Ostersund part two of the trip .
